As I lie here on my bed, in recovery while listening to the soothing muse that is Dr. Luna, I reflect on some nice changes I've experienced. Since downloading the MyFitnessPal app and also putting the Fitclick website to use, in amidst my impending turn to being 30, I decided to do something I had put off for a long time in absolute seriousness -- dropping down to 234-235 pounds. It's a weight that always seemed abslutely unattainable in recent years but like many things, eventually the changes will be made.
Usually we go with the mindset that "Hey I've been in the gym for 2 hours!" but when you measure the time put into working out vs. the time you've been there, you begin to realize how much time truly is wasted. When you also start tracking down what and how much you consume, everything that has been holding you back finally comes to light.
Needless to say, I began March 4th at 291 and as of yesterday, rounded to about 277-278 pounds. For the first time, my Adidas workout pants have room, my Alter Bridge 2xl is baggy, XL feels normal instead of tight and even Large size underwears are showing signs of baggyness.
As for my workout routine, the first half of the month consisted of 5 sets of reps until failure on each exercise I set myself to do. My job is manual labor incarnate -- clean bodily fluids of all sort, dirt, residue, dust, lifting machines, mopping and vacuuming. Upon the 3rd week of March, 3 sets of 10 reps with the last set to failure and in turn added stretches in regard to muscles being in use of the day. This week, I conclude my routine of 3 sets of 12 reps with the last set until failure. As for cardio, I run from the bus to the gym for about 12-13 minutes and the same when clocking out of work. The little victoriesand advantages you get from not being another Floridian driver. The day I do have a car? I will have no choice but to incorporate that cardio I usually do inside the gym itself.
As for dieting, yes I do use a pre-workout supplement called Warp 5 from Adaptogen Science to give me that little kick and yes I do have Muscle Milk Collegiate but I restrict MMC for emergency situations like when time is pressing against me in meal preps. For food, oatmeal, sweet potatoes, eggplants, spinach, celery, peanut butter, black or red beans, hot sauce, tuna and chicken are faithful friends. In the start of March I was at 24 cups of water but due to my weight loss, I'm down to 22-23. It simply helps with clearing your system out. Coffee helps on occasion as does lots of tea.
Yes, I have cheat days but I do my best to cheat skillfully, meaning I don't go off and consume 5,000 calories. I'm not Michael Phelps and don't plan to!
As for my album's title, I know some of you may ask why the change from Bacon Salsa to Wherever I Feel? Originally, BS was going to be 15 songs with a flurry of different styles put together, prog songs and instrumentals included but as I kept recording and I saw the direction the songs and lyrical matter were going, WIF is a better title and honestly I can say this record will barely resemble my debut if at all. Not it won't be latin jazz, thrash metal, industrial and certainly not another EDM album to be chewed up by the masses. It is simply shaping itself with a touch of an old school hard rock and metal feel with 2 ballads thrown in with an instrumental. It goes to show that sometimes, no matter what agenda you set, the songs have another in mind.
